On the edge of a dramatic site overlooking Lake Erie, this mid-century modern home is a thoughtful renovation of an intricately crafted home, originally designed by a skilled decorative iron artist. The original home boasted unique cast and forged steel elements, decorative floor inlays, and a unique fireplace. The new homeowners envisioned refreshed, open-concept spaces that would prioritize the stunning lake views while introducing a clean, modern aesthetic.
The renovation reimagined the first-floor layout to foster a stronger connection between living spaces and enhance natural light. Additions were incorporated to provide functional spaces that would improve everyday living, creating space for a pantry, mudroom and screen porch. The design centers around the home’s picturesque lakefront, with expansive views from nearly every room.
