35 Stratford Student Housing, Columbus, Ohio, Exterior

So many college campus projects look to maximize the efficiency of the building by creating something tall and surrounding it by parking. As we study the effectiveness of outdoor green space we look to challenge the traditional “student living” prototype. With thoughtful design you can get the same efficiencies of the building but introduce a natural, more thoughtful surrounding environment. Our goal for this campus project was to create a park like setting that nestled between all of the structures and allowed us to hide parking on the outskirts of the property as well as underneath the structures. The initial client requirements were to create a living environment that would attract students, teachers, and professionals and provide all the necessary every day amenities on site. 35 Stratford includes 500 apartments with a mixture of 2-4 bedroom suites, 36 2-story 5 bedroom townhomes, Summit Café and shop, The Terrace workout facility, event space, pool, and rooftop bar, common public park areas, volleyball and tennis courts, swimming/kayaking lake, and bike and hike trail. A college experience like no other…
